Jeronimo Lopez Ramirez a.k.a Dr. Lakra , a Mexican tattooist and artist, is known for drawing and painting his artwork on vintage printed materials, dolls, and images of pin up girls. Lakra's artwork reflects the body art traditions from chicano and Filipino cultures. Many conservative minds may think that his artwork is over the top, but I enjoy how he challenges social norms and blurs cultural identities with his playfully naughty, and vulgar style.
So this is Dr. Lakra's first solo exhibit in the United States and it is now featured at The Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) next to Boston's seaport and harbor.
