EXTRAVAGANCE!!! ALEXANDER MCQUEEN SPRING/SUMMER 2011

Even though its still dumping snow here in Boston, don't forget that spring is right around the corner. I figured I would start off the spring posts with something extravagant. The late and great Alexander McQueen's legacy continues into the Spring 2011 season with earthy excellence. I chose to only give you a glimpse of the women's heels because I appreciate the details. You can see the earthy accents of reptile skins, monarch butterflies and wheat to embellish the heels. Out of the collection, I think my favorite features are the gleaming gold toe and the wheat cuff.

So I know this post is a little overdue, but this restaurant made a long lasting impression. When it comes restaurants, presentation is half of what can make them so special. The entire experience should have a unique quality, not only the food. To ring in the new year, I chose to dine and celebrate at Post 390 on Stuart St. nearby Copley Sq. in Boston. Young professionals of a "mid-mature" age mingled in the main bar in the entrance lobby, small conversation of business ventures and vacation memories filled the dim setting. We sat on the second floor away from the crowd, but still adjacent to the view of the John Hancock building and Trinity church. And I cannot forget the food, it was rich, delicious, and portioned to satisfy. When the clock struck 12, waiters served complimentary campagne and we all toasted to the new year. Post 390 has paired both an enticing setting and a quality menu to become worthy of your visit.

Although winter is usually the time to pile on the layers, this season its all about the heaviest of heavy cardigans. If your cardigan is cable stitched, mid-collared and ribbed, all you need is a thin shirt beneath to keep your heat on an average winter day. But I would only have faith in a sweater for the really cold weather if its at least 50% wool, don't find yourself stranded in the cold wearing some synthetic fabric. I spotted the above cardigans in the Diesel display window and Im willing to say they are a couple of my favorite styles this season. They are chunky and bulky, but they are still knitted to fit and the red color option just makes a loud eye-catching statement.
